great play - great edition

King Lear is definitely my favourite among Shakespeare's plays. It is deeply moving, an 'image of horror' full of illusions and puns.

This edition supplies a lot of additional notes that help understanding this complex drama. What I especially liked about the notes was that they do not simply say what something means according to the editor's opinion but list several possibilities of interpretation. On the other hand this means that there are often more secondary notes than primary text. In short, this is an excellent edition (the best of several I have seen) for reading at University etc. (and thus really going into the text) but might be a little bit to extensive if read only for fun.
