<br>... für viele Aufgabenbereiche ist Staroffice (oder Openoffice) die beste Alternative zu den Microsoftprodukten. Ich verwende es beispielsweise an der Uni zum Bücher schreiben oder auch in Seminaren und bin vom Funktionsumfang, Stabilität und auch Geschwindigkeit überzeugt.<br /><br />Neulich habe ich das Officepaket auf meinem alten Zweitnotebook installiert, welcher gerade einmal 96MB Arbeitsspeicher hat - und trotz der empfohlenen 256MB funktioniert Staroffice ohne Probleme. Kein Aufhängen oder scheinbares Stillstehen, wie bei Microsofts Officepaket sondern einfach nur Arbeiten, Arbeiten, Arbeiten. Performanzgewinn habe ich besonders beim Speichern von Dokumenten zu verzeichnen und beim Öffnen - hier dauerte der Zugriff auf die Festplatte bei Microsoft Office wesentlich länger. Staroffice ist auch beim Öffnen größerer Dokumente stabiler als Microsoft Office. Zudem hatte ich bisher noch nie auf meinem Bildschirm stehen: "Staroffice unterstützt dieses Betriebssystem nicht!". Dies ist mir bei der Installation von Microsoft Office 2003 auf Windows 98 passiert.<br /><br />Über den wirklich guten Preis wollen wir hier gar nicht reden, da kann Microsoft einfach nur einpacken.<br /><br />Was den Funktionsumfang betrifft: Texte schreiben, Tabellen und Diagramme erstellen, Datenbanken anlegen, Grafiken entwerfen, direkter PDF-Export, Präsentationen entwerfen, Microsoft-Kompatibilität ... sind nur einige harte Fakten.<br /><br />Ach ja: Es sein noch erwähnt, dass StarOffice für den Gebrauch in der Schule und an der Uni kostenlos von der Website von Sun heruntergeladen werden kann - so nett ist Microsoft nicht.<br /><br />Insgesamt: Verdiente 5 Sterne.<br /><br />Update vom 12.08.2008: Inzwischen arbeite ich nur noch mit Staroffice, auch wenn ich mich zu Anfangs nicht getraut habe Microsoft den Rücken zu kehren, da mir die Abhängigkeit von dem Microsoft Office Dateiformaten zu hoch erschien - immerhin arbeite ich an einer Universität und hier ist Microsoft immer noch Standard! Nach jahrelanger Nutzung der Microsoft Produkte war das Schreiben mit Staroffice zu Anfangs noch ein wenig gewöhnungsbedürftig aber nach einer allmählichen Einarbeitung geht das Arbeiten inzwischen ganz flott. Einige Funktionen wie die Möglichkeit einer direkten Erstellung von PDFs möchte ich garnicht mehr missen.<br /><br />Einen positiven Nebeneffekt hatte meine Umstellung auch noch: Ich kann jetzt problemlos Windows und Linux nebeneinander nutzen, da es Staroffice für beide Plattformen gibt.<br /><br />Übrigends: Auch unter Windows Vista funktioniert Staroffice hervorragend.</p>
